]]>We all know what a backup is and how important it is to preserve the data and files we don’t want to lose. Let’s not forget that it is useful for both your pc and smartphone, which will be unloaded and will run faster and more efficiently.
There are mainly two methods to secure your files and data: some prefer using an external support, like a sizable hard drive, while some people prefer to do it online, with the classic Dropbox or Google Drive (which still only have limited space) or with a paid cloud storage service, very useful for work and companies. There are also people who want to be 100% secure and use both!
According to the “2020 Cyber Protection Week Survey” Acronis carried out on 3000 people in 11 countries around the world, 91% of the people interviewed admit to performing their backup once a year. It sounds like a good percentage but think about how many things we do with our smartphone or computer in 365 days. Pictures, texts, important documents, projects… and much more. Are we sure once a year is enough?
Let’s especially think about the risks our data and files are vulnerable to: virus attacks, losing your phone, your computer breaking, or a simple error that deletes the document you’ve been working on for days! There are also cyber security dangers, which these last few years have been talked about in the papers (which thanks to their “popularity” have made users more alert: 88% of users are working on bettering their privacy and online security!)

]]>For the first time, all the companies that already use SAP will have advanced clients to check their corporate data and interact with SAP servers, combining the computing power of SAP backends with the cutting-edge technology of Apple devices like iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Furthermore, SAP created Fiori for iOS, an extension of Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, specifically to meet the needs of management software apps, providing a series of new UIKit components to do the job.
Just in Italy there are around 4000 PMIs that in the last year have used SAP solutions to manage their corporate processes (source: digital4biz), companies that can surely benefit from the freedom of action that Apple devices allow to manage their business at any moment.
We at Oimmei are already working on studying the new proposed SDK so we can offer our clients native and cutting-edge solutions to access their SAP systems.

]]>Actually, behind the scenes, the most important update was the introduction of the new filesystem Apple file system or APFS. Apple had announced the new APFS at the last WWDC, releasing its beta version for MacOS, but nobody expected to see it in iOS systems so soon.
But what is a file system exactly? The file system is that part of the operating system that interacts with the drive, writing and reading data on it, so basically a good file system guarantees that your photos are safe!
So, where there is a drive there is a file system, and coming back to us, that means that the file systems of million of devices such as iPhones, iPads, iPods and Apple Watches were silently updated by Apple yesterday, without having to format the drives and without anyone noticing. To us developers, something nearly impossible was done yesterday, our sincere congratulations to the Apple team who worked on the new file system!
